St. Louis School Student Newspaper

排版 Typesetting

In its early days, Aloysians adopted the style of old newspapers and utilized letterpress printing, also known as "movable type," for printing within the school. Starting from Volume 25 (1993-94), the publication shifted to off-campus printing, gradually transitioning from black and white to dual-color printing.

To cater to changing reader preferences, Aloysians embraced advancements in the Volume 42 (2011-2012). The layout no longer relied on pre-existing templates from printing companies, and students took charge of typesetting. The layout transformed from predominantly text-based to a combination of text and images, moving towards full-color printing. Beginning with Volume 44 (2013-2014), the cover adopted a magazine-style format.

Currently, Aloysians typesetters utilize software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop for layout design. Some proficient Aloysians typesetters, during their university studies, apply their aesthetic sensibilities to enhance their assignments with personalized layout designs, garnering praise from their professors and peers.
